I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the episode of Ulla Jones, Minna Ruusuvuore and Liisa Holma’s Lähtijät podcast, which discussed a culture that does not suit you. An inappropriate culture can mean different things to people. In companies, it can happen that the management starts working on an organizational change, in which the personnel are not involved, but the change is communicated when the plans are ready. Sometimes, cliques form in companies because there is no open discussion or feedback culture in the company, and it is not possible to give criticism. Over the past two years, corporate cultures may have changed to the point where people have been left working in home offices. It’s great that different ways of working are enabled, but it would be very important to also remember those who live alone or have been recruited to the company in the last two years. One of the significant factors that increase the meaning of work is working together and social encounters. Loneliness or feeling like an outsider can be overwhelming. No one is meant to live alone, and companies don’t work alone. We need others and genuine physical encounters.
“No one is meant to live here alone, neither people nor companies.”
